The Adult Learning Band

Observers always welcome.

Have you ever dreamed of playing a musical instrument, with others, in a band? Is there a dusty sax in your closet that you've been thinking about polishing up and playing?

We provide the opportunity for you to live those dreams.

What we are

We're an adult learning band. The only requirement to join is a desire to play a band instrument.

We practice on Saturday mornings, from 9:00 to 11:00. Beginners have their own class until they are ready to join the rest of the band. Our conductors are experienced band teachers from local schools.

If you are interested in attending a practice to see what it's all about, email Jean for information about our practice location.

You're never too old to play!!!

A brief history

The Winnipeg New Horizons Band was organized in September 2004 by John Balsillie of St. John's Music. John continues to offer his advice and support to the band.

For three years, we operated under the very capable direction of Cheryl and Darryl Ferguson. In June 2007 we bid an emotional farewell to these wonderful people.

In September 2007, we welcomed Patrick Keeler and Chad Pollard as our new conducting team.

In 2008, we received grant money that enabled us to advertise our band, thereby almost doubling our memebership, and to purchase new music and some band instruments.
